Stories of Impact
“I had been a full-time mom in a middle-class family for close to two decades. Due to complicated circumstances my ex-husband was awarded most of our joint assets and contributes very little to child support.
After twenty years out of the workforce, it’s been extraordinarily difficult to re-start my own career. After many false starts, I am still earning well
below the poverty line.
My children, now entering their later teen years, have been hungry many times because I wasn’t earning enough to buy the food we need. I spent nearly two years trying to feed them on my own, knowing I was failing, and promised their pediatrician I would take action.
Fortunately, a caring individual linked me the Capital Kosher Food Pantry, which does everything right:
They let shoppers take what they need.
They allow shoppers to shop privately instead of coming during open hours.
They check in with me to make sure I’m getting what my family needs.
The Capital Kosher Pantry has provided food and emotional security for me and my children. Now that we have a secure, sustainable source of kosher food, we’re never hungry anymore and we don’t worry about being hungry again.”
