Utility Assistance Program
Assists individuals and families in need to pay gas and electric bills to avoid disconnection of vital utilities. We also direct those in need to other resources that can offer assistance. We require a rabbinical sponsor who can vouch for familiarity with the circumstances.
Interest Free Loan
Offers interest free, long term loans to qualified families and individuals in temporary financial need. We do not require co-signers; however, we do require a rabbinical sponsor who can vouch for the recipient's reliability.
Chesed Shel Emes Aid
This program is designed to help bereaved Greater Washington area community members in financial distress provide a dignified burial for a loved one, in accordance with Jewish law. Visit www.chesedshelemesaid.org for more information.
Who Qualifies? Since program funding comes from members of the Orthodox Jewish community, our limited resources only allow us to cater to that constituency. The applicant must be recommended by any one of the Orthodox Rabbinical leaders in the Rabbinical Council of Greater Washington, The Beltway Vaad or Chabad Center in the Greater Washington area. The individual or family member must be either a member or associate member of any of those affiliated shuls.
